Lesson 1 - Rules and Rewards

In the first lesson, we just went over my reward system and the students received folders to hold their printouts.

For the rest of the class, we played Apples to Apples Big Picture.

Lesson 2 - Telestrations For Kids

One of the students completed her flower and choose to have a game day for this lesson.

We played 12 Player Telestrations (Amazon Link).

I changed the clues and pre-wrote them on the cards to make it more appropriate for the age / education level:

Lesson 3 - Safari Floor Puzzle

The students created a floor puzzle (amazon link) that I bought.

We discussed African animals and watched a video with animal sounds.

Lesson 4 - Africa

We learn a little about Africa. Students had access to a map and tried finding the places on the map.

Finally, students were allowed to play an online game regarding African countries (Link).

Lesson 5 - African Ecosystems

We learned about different ecosystems and the animals that live there.

We played a guessing game about animals and which ecosystem they are from.

Lesson 6 - African Masks

We filled in the blank as we learned about masks.

Students also were able to make their own mask art.  We didn't finish all of the mask making though.

Lesson 7 - Predator vs Prey

We finished making masks and learned about predator / prey relationships.

Students watched a video about breaching sharks and answered questions.

Lesson 8 - Food Chain

We learned how predator / prey relationships work on a larger scale in food chains.

Students cut and pasted pictures of animals to create their own food chain based on African animals. 

We discussed why each link in the chain is important and finished off trying to balance ecosystems.

Lesson 9 - Food Chain Continued

We used the example of wolves in Yellowstone National Park to illustrate how a balanced ecosystem should work. 

We also looked at the difference between herbivores, carnivores, omnivores and scavengers. 

Finally, I let the students build the next puzzle (Amazon Link) about rain forests.

Lesson 10 - Rainforest

We learned about the rainforest layers and which animals we could find in each layer. 

Specifically, we were studying the Amazon rainforest.

Lesson 12 - Three Diablos

One of the students completed their flowers, so we watched a video (Netflix). 

Afterwards, the students followed instructions to draw a cat.
