I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached
Where are my glasses?
Yes, I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached. I went for a hike today and half-way up the mountain, I realized that I forgot my glasses. I drove there with my (prescription) sunglasses on and forgot my regular glasses at home. It would be dark by the time I got home, so the sunglasses weren’t going to do a good job. Luckily, I prepared for my absent-mindedness a long time ago. I left my old pair of glasses stowed away in my car just in case.
The reason why I left my glasses there is because this is not the first time I drove somewhere with my sunglasses and forgot my regular glasses. It happened a few years ago and I had to drive about an hour and a half in the dark with sunglasses. My eyesight isn’t too bad, so I tried driving without any glasses, but the prescription sunglasses were safer.
Meaning
I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached is a funny way to say that you are forgetful. It is like saying, “Oh, I am so silly. I forgot again.” There are a few variations of the phrase that I will add at the end of this post.
Other things I forgot
My glasses weren’t the only thing I forgot. I also forgot to lock my car and bring enough fluid with me. I forget to lock my car a lot. Sometimes I forget to lock my car with my wallet in it. Shhh… don’t tell the criminals! Mum’s the word, ok?
I think I could be forgiven for not bringing enough water though. This is the first time I have climbed this mountain and my research online suggested that It would be 3.5km each way. I reasoned that it might be 8km round trip with side ventures and walking from the parking lot. I didn’t have a lot of fluid, but just enough for 8km. It ended up being a 14km hike. It was dark by the time I got home.
Despite my forgetfulness, it was an enjoyable day. The mountain (오서산) was surprisingly nice. The hike up was normal, but there was a lot to see at the top. Most mountains in Korea just reach a peak and then go back down. I might stay 5 minutes or so to have a short break at the top. This mountain had a long ridge that I could hike with a few observatories and nice views. I spent over 30 minutes at the top. I might have even spent an hour there. There is also a wider trail there that is great for mountain bikers. One cyclist passed me going up and looked very happy.
